NIKON F3H (1998)

The Nikon F3 High Speed - refered to as the F3H was introduced by Nikon for the 1998 Nagono Olympic Games. It was the last of the Nikons F3 variants.

Not commercially available it certainly had a production run of less than 1000 units and was supplied to Japanese
Photojournalists covering the Olympics.

It still holds the record for the fastest FPS of a Nikon Film Camera - 13.5FPS - as compared to the Canon
EOS 1n RS 10FPS. It complemented the (somewhat bulky) 1976 Nikon F2H (which still commands a hefty price premium
used in 2009). The F2H maxed out at 7FPS (with a selector for speeds of 3.5 fps, 5 fps and 7 fps). All these cameras
used the classic Pellicle Mirror design to achieve the required speed but at the expense of allowing slightly less
light to hit the film plane (I think 1/3 of a stop).

Uses the MD4H which is roughly the same size as the MD4 (although it will not fit a regular F3).

F3 High Speed serials are reputed to start with H9600001 with an initial run anticipated to be 300 Cameras.
